The Right Way to Hard Boil An Egg to Perfection

The Perfect Hard Boiled Egg Method

Most people have no idea how to properly hard boil an egg these days and most of our friends just avoid making them all together even though they LOVE them. Most people who attempt making hard boiled eggs, are still doing it the way their mother taught them to years ago - which does work but it’s much harder to get it perfect. It goes a little something like this: put a saucepan full of cold water on the stove, add cold eggs and slowly bring up to a boil. Once the water is boiling lower to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, let cool and then either peel or put in the refrigerator for later use. Or bring to a boil and cook on high for 10 minutes. Right? Well, it’s actually not the best way to do it and we’re here to teach you once and for all how to it perfectly EVERY TIME. AND we include a clever, time saving method to get the shells off!

If you want bright yellow - perfectly cooked yolks this is the way to do it

  1. In a saucepan put three inches of water and a steamer to rest the eggs on. Put the cold eggs on top of the steamer and cover the pan.

  2. Bring the water up to a boil and once the water is boiling cook for 13 minutes.

  3. As the eggs are cooking fill a glass container - that has a fitted top with ice cold water and set aside.

  4. Once the eggs are cooked immediately plunge them in the container with cold water and let sit for five minutes.

  5. After five minutes pour out half the water and put the top on your container. Vigorously shake the container for 2 minutes and you will see the shell of the hard boiled eggs start to peel away.

  6. Empty shells and water out and put shelled eggs back in container and put in the fridge.

You will have perfectly cooked hard boiled eggs with bright yellow yolks. A perfect grab and go breakfast, snack, or topping for salad!
