Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 4 tablespoons butter

  • 4 eggs

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 8 - 10 slices of baguette about 1inch thick

  • 1/2 cup maple syrup for serving

  • optional: sprinkle with powdered sugar right before serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla.

  2. Slice your baguette pieces on an angle and place them side by side (flat down) in a casserole dish or container large enough to fit all your bread slices (you might need two).

  3. Pour your mixture over the bread and make sure to soak both sides of each slice flipping a few times. Cover it with Saran Wrap and place it in the fridge to soak overnight.

  4. In the morning, get a 10-inch or 12-inch skillet on the stove and melt butter over medium heat. Or spray with non-stick spray. Get your French toast out of the fridge (the mixture will be all soaked up).

  5. Fry slices until golden brown, then flip to cook the other side.

  6. Serve with syrup, butter, and powdered sugar!
