Sailing Home to New York: A Moving Return to the Statue of Liberty

I’m home! I’m home. It’s Suzanne writing from NYC!

Our days crossing the Ocean have came to an end as we sailed into NY harbor early this am. Up at 4:10 am to make sure i didn’t miss this. From the empty hallways to the busy Observation Lounge it was an experience. I have never done this approach before and it was an amazing vista (even if behind a wall of glass!). One set of my grandparents took this journey over 100 years ago - one from Italy and the other set of grandparents and my father from Canada to start a new life in this extraordinary country I call home. It was wonderful seeing the Statue of Liberty and from what they must have seen. Apologies in advance for the fuzziness of the photos! It’s nice to travel the world. It’s also nice to come home.
