BREAD

You can’t exactly count on having fresh bread, but you can make yourself fresh bread in 3 hours using our recipe—see below. All you need is quick-rise yeast, flour, and salt. This will come in so handy! Just make sure you have a cast iron pot with a lid, which is essential for the baking process.

Must-Have Household Essentials for a Cleaner, Healthier Home 🏡✨

From all-in-one cleaning solutions to food safety tips, these essentials are game-changers for keeping your home clean, organized, and well-stocked.

Castile Soap: The Ultimate Multi-Purpose Cleaner

Castile soap is one of our favorite all-in-one household and beauty essentials! We use it to clean everything—and it works better than traditional cleaners like Windex or Fantastik.

Why We Love It:
Multi-use: Works as an all-purpose cleaner, dish soap, laundry detergent, and even personal care (face wash, shampoo, and body wash!).
✔ Gentle & Effective: Great for blemish-prone skin—antibacterial, removes dirt and moisturizes.
✔ Long-Lasting & Affordable: A little goes a long way!

Pro Tip: If you have sensitive skin, dilute Castile soap with water and avoid using it daily.

Vinegar: A Must for Cleaning Fruits & Veggies

Worried about bacteria on your produce? Vinegar is a natural disinfectant that ensures your fruits and veggies are safe to eat.

🔹 How to Use It: Soak your fruits in vinegar overnight, then rinse with water the next day. Don’t worry—you won’t taste the vinegar!

✅ Extra Cleaning Tip: Even if you’re not eating the skin, wash all produce (including avocados, bananas, and oranges) with soapy water. The surface can still carry bacteria or viruses that transfer when peeling or cutting.

Frozen Veggies: A Smart & Nutritious Stock-Up Choice

Fresh produce is essential for getting key nutrients and superfoods, but it can be hard to keep on hand. The good news? Frozen veggies are just as nutritious and often more affordable!

Our Go-To Frozen Picks:

✔ Mixed berries & bananas (not all stores carry frozen bananas, so buy fresh, chop, and freeze them yourself!)
✔ Butternut squash
✔ Kale
✔ Peas
✔ Corn
✔ Broccoli
✔ Cauliflower

Pro Tip: You can make our butternut squash soup using frozen squash—it’s just as delicious! Plus, frozen fruit is perfect for smoothies. Check out our 5 favorite smoothie recipes here!

Staying stocked up doesn’t have to be stressful—just focus on the essentials that make life easier and healthier!

STOCK UP YOUR MEDICINE CABINET

If someone does get sick, you’ll want to have cold and flu medicine on hand as well as some nice herbal tea, electrolyte powder, and vitamin C!

PANTRY ITEMS

Stock up on foods you love that can be stored in your pantry without going bad (pasta sauces, soups, cereal, tuna, etc.). These are some items that we stocked up on in case this lasts longer than expected.

Canned goods, pasta sauces, soups, cereal, canned tuna, peanut butter, etc.

  • Pasta and sauce are probably the things we stocked up on most!

  • DRIED LENTILS / BEANS (instead of canned, these bagged raw lentils tend to be cheaper)

  • CEREAL

  • ALMOND MILK: Replace milk with this pantry-friendly dairy alternative.

  • ALMOND BUTTER

  • TUNA: Healthy and easy!

  • PET FOOD! Don’t forget about your furry friends, of course!

  • EVOO & VINEGARS

TIP: Make a hummus dip with your dried chickpeas!

MEATS

Buy some ground turkey and veal (or meat of choice) and freeze it so you can make chili or meatballs in big batches to freeze. This way you can have one big prep day and relax.
