DIY Beer Face Mask
Happy St. Patty’s weekend!!! Glowing skin is definitely NOT lucky 🍀 It takes dedication and CARE. They call it skincare for a reason. This may seem like a bummer and a lot of hard work and time, but we like to think of self care as a kind of meditation. We have to admit, some people DO have amazing skin naturally, but a customized beauty routine and clean healthy diet can take you from a 2 to a 10 when it comes to your complexion.
We always look forward to Saint Patrick’s day because it’s a sign spring is around the corner and usually everyone in Montreal is sitting on terraces and celebrating by drinking massive amounts of green beer. However, this does nothing great for your complexion. Alcohol is probably one of the worst things for your skin. It's dehydrating and speeds up signs of aging. Instead, we are celebrating with a homemade BRIGHTENING BEER face mask. It tightens, lightens, and invigorates.
It's your lucky day because this mask is simple and effective.
What you need
1 egg white
½ cup beer (any brand)
2 teaspoons fresh lime juice
Combine the beer, egg whites and lime juice and lather onto face as a mask. Leave on for 10 minutes and rinse with warm water.
What it does for your skin
Beer is a soothing cleanser. Did you know that in ancient Egypt, long considered the birthplace of beer, women of the upper classes used beer for all sorts of beauty and skin healing purposes. 4,000 years later, scientific studies have confirmed that beer sediment (brewer's yeast) can help improve the symptoms of acne by slowing down sebum production and killing off the bacteria that triggers acne. When mixed with egg white, the yeast in the beer creates a filmy mask that hydrates and improves the elasticity of the skin. The lime (or a lemon), is a source of vitamin C, which helps clear pores and brighten skin by fading brown spots.
