Eda and Suzanne’s First Day in Rome: A Stay at Hotel Splendide Royal

It’s Suzanne here with what will be a series of posts of a different sort. I’m traveling with a high school friend who just lost her childhood sweetheart and husband of 53 years. They were married right out of high school and she’s never been without him - until now.

This trip is her first foray into the world “solo” and I thought I would take her with me on this trip.

It started in NYC and we are on day 8. Enjoy!

The first day of the Eda and Suzanne great adventure! An amazing suite at Hotel Splendide Royal an iconic luxury hotel right next to the Borghese gardens greeted us upon arrival. We felt like royalty (well I have been known to wear the crown at times!) to a wonderful dinner Il Piccolo Mundo, where Eda had had dinner with her Ray, last time she was in Rome. Small world? Pasta anyone? Back in our suite we giggled while watching the Food Network in Italian. Hey when in Rome!

For weary travelers Hotel Splendide Royal is the perfect place to stay. The warmth and attention to your every need will enchant you. Recently refurbished as well as a newly constructed wing make it all the more inviting. For Eda and me it was the perfect start to our “Eda and Suzanne Great Adventure”

Tomorrow we board Oceania Cruises Riviera for ten days!
